Although I agree that we should not move forward with either Peabody's of Burbank's proposals, I am not a cheerleader at this time for the arts idea for 64 Durfee St. Also, I am not against it.

My reasoning is this: We should not move forward at all until the city can get a handle on what direction we are going with the downtown and waterfront areas.

If you move forward with the arts at 64 Durfee st there is another problem and that is we still have the same people in the 6th floor, RD board and FROED. These same people will not work hard for this idea at all which means they will allow it to fail. Once it fails they will say (see we told you so!)

Better to table this, create a vision plan, remove people that have no vision, then move forward.

I am not necessarily a proponent of the Burbank proposal....it was just terrible in execution if not in concept and that lack of attention to detail concerns me - but low income housing isn't the way to go here considering the proximity of this building to the waterfront.

I agree it should be tabled until they can come up with a comprehensive plan.

...table the idea and wait for what? maybe that's the problem with this city, we're constantly waiting for something that we can't even identify. once again the city has opportunity knocking at it's door, and once again i'm sure they'll find a way to screw it up.
