Formerly Blue Crosswalks

Remember these vibrant blue crosswalks? How much did they cost?
10/16/08

And 7 months later......

Were the crosswalks done in chalk or washable fingerpaint? They look terrible, and after only 7 months. Can we get a refund? Ken Pacheco mentioned in the above linked article that they were thinking about using this paint/color for other crosswalks around government center....please don't.

They have been fading since almost immediately after they were painted. I drive on that street almost every single day and shake my head and laugh at the idiocy every shot.

Didn't someone also point out that they may have been illegal?

I do not appreciate the comments about the cross walk it took me 12 hours and 1578 pieces of chalk to complete that crosswalk.

LOL @ johnybfallriver!

And after all that work that poor Johnyb put in, they used the mythical "Graffitti Removal Machine" to wash it all away. Hey at least it got used for SOMETHING!

You can't forget that Mayuh Correia walks in and out of that building every day and uses those very crosswalks so I think he scratched and scraped off all the paint with his walker. I told him to put tennis balls underneath so it would roll and not ruin the crosswalks but as usual he wouldn't listen! Mayor Correia doesn't take advice very well or criticism, even when it is constructive criticism such as retire now and not later for the good of the city.

Let's be serious for one minute here folks.

Somebody SOLD that paintjob to the city. That means that they reasonably believed it would last longer than this. Either that, or it was a total scam...

I don't know which it was, but I do know that all you need to do is drive through Taunton center to see their 'red' crosswalks to know they are crap.

Whoever is selling this stuff must have forgotten to tell the city that it was made for walkways that aren't on streets only. That is the only logical conclusion here.
