Fall River Fail

I love fail blog . If you haven't been to the site you should take a look (they update it several times daily).

This Fall River 'fail' picture was taken at Oliver's last week. The owner of Oliver's, Paul Viveros, has been trying to get permission from the city to open a strip club for years but, according to the dress code on the door, he hates bare shoulders.

Wow. So he likes to keep trash out of his establishment. If only the Regatta would do the same. Any guy that goes out to a restaurant/bar wearing a wife-beater is a deadbeat anyway, so what's the problem?

A high school kid would find this picture ironic.

huh? -
I agree that people should wear appropriate clothing when going out to eat or going out in public in general. In fact I am the president of the coalition for the responsible siting of tank tops. HOWEVER, the irony is in the fact that Viveros is trying to get an all naked venue at his business yet he frowns upon tank tops. Do I need to explain further?

I know what the irony is...it's fairly simple...but this is the kind of irony more high school kids than adults would find amusing. I think you missed my point.

Well then, congratulations to the high school students who are bright enough to find this as amusing as I do.

So, by the same logic, it would be ironic if you owned a strip club but the PATRONS weren't allowed to be naked?

shamrock said...

That is a bit of a 'logical' leap.

My amusement lies in the propriety of covering bare shoulders in a building that is desirous of exhibiting naked people in general. Not a customer v. employee issue......just a general commentary.

Irony is a child's disease. Taking yourself too seriously is the plague of our times.

Shamrock,

I found your post ironic and amusing. I'm not sure where the other anon's were going with their points but maybe they should have a high school student explain it to them since it is obviously OVER their heads.

Anonymous said...

Whoa, anonymous...ease off. I'm pretty sure Shamrock wasn't taking this seriously at all. It's just completely hilarious and ironic that a guy who wants naked ladies on display doesn't want to see naked shoulders on his customers.

Irony is a child's disease? Dag! Too bad all those ancient dead people like Plato and Socrates and semi-literates like Shakespeare and Poe and O Henry and Kate Chopin weren't aware of that. Alas, they might have made something of themselves had they known.

Kate Chopin? Ironic? I smell junior college.

ahh another comment that left me thinking..."what was the point?"

I'll bet that happens a lot.

The "anonymous" doth protest too much, methinks. A vested interest, perhaps?

'Nuf said. I think we can figure out who anonymous is.

I thought it was funny because he had the toilet display. then no TANK tops. No maybe I over thought it.

Anonymous said...

Oh, good one..no tank tops for our local toilet artist...now that's also some pretty funny irony!

Now wsar just announced he has nude manics with american flags in front of his establishment and entrance to the industrial park.

I was not really against putting a strip club up there since it has to go somewhere before the city ends up paying more $$ in lawsuits.

AFTER THIS STUNT I AM AGAINST IT GOING ANYWHERE THAT THIS NUT CAN PROFIT FROM IT.

Now that paul viveros set up a display of 6 nude mannequins outside the industrial park, can we all agree that this sign is ironic?

Anonymous said...

The perfect irony: herren's ranting on Paul's "disgusting self promotion" then calling him a[sic] narsisis. Took some license with phonetic spelling, but you get my drift.

Nude manics with american flags are running amok!!! Holy crap, Corrigan needs to get in there and dose them with copious amounts of Lithium STAT!

Anonymous said...

hee hee nude mannequins, manics(must have been a freudian slip!) what's the difference!

Anonymous said...

fruedian slip? you should not use a term if you do not understand the meaning.

Anonymous said...

Perhaps you should explain it. I was the one who accidently wrote manic.

shamrock said...

hahaha! very funny

Anonymous said...

exactly shamrock,

Some of us need to lighten up - I did not spell mannequins correctly and typed manics. When I was corrected and read it again I found it ironic and funny. Puck is right:
