We can (and should) celebrate Bob's departure, but many of the same people that supported his agenda sailed into the finals. We need to continue to battle for change on the city council and school committee. We cannot overlook the intelligent, passionate people who do not have name recognition.

Cathy Ann Viveiros is NOT the answer!

The euphoria from Correia's crushing defeat was short lived, when much to my disappointment people voted the status quo for city council and school committee. People forget that some of these people with their votes enabled the mayor to carry out his misguided plans.

Who said that to defeat strip clubs you need to set up regulations? Will or Cathy?

Answer - Will. (Cathy came up with a zone in the middle of Fall River - near homes and businesses)

some observations from the couch after a night of colorful radio coverage:

A lot of those backed by Bob also did poorly while those who stood from afar did well.

Bob was graceful yet "stuck to his guns" to the end, perhaps never realizing they were empty.

a certain talk jock seemed incredibly shocked

Al Alves despite not running for anything still didn't answer the tough question- so much for his insight.

Where was Cathy?

Anonymous said...

Let's look at it this way, Bob Correia's followers like Brian Bigelow and Linda Pereira did well but Pat Casey and Joe Camara dropped to 7th and 8th, probably the lowest they have ever finished. They are vulnerable. If we can throw our support behind some other candidates like Mike Miozza and Kris Bartley maybe we can beat them too since they rubberstamped Bob's agenda 100% of the time.

Bob Correia's follower Mike Lund finished 10th and you can bet he is going to dump a ton of his money into his campaign to improve on that so we need to stop him too.

Big positives of the night were Eric Poulin and Dave Dennis in the Council race finishing 4 and 9.

Brad Kilby and Ray Mitchell did well and even though they have been on the Council before I think they are reasonable people and certainly more intelligent and likeable then Lund, Casey or Camara.

I wish there was a way we could dump Bigelow and Pereria too but they look too strong right now.

Anyone else have any thoughts now that Bob is out on how to finish the job and dump more incumbents from the Council and School Committee?

And they said the bloggers and commenters were just a vocal minority. Bye Bye Bobbie! Camara and Casey you are next. You were the President and Vice President of the Bob Correia fan club. You're gone!

>Who pointed out that Bio Technology does not create a lot of jobs, while green technology will create a lot of jobs?? Will or Cathy?

Big revelation there.

>Who voted to back Bob on the Rain Tax? Will or Cathy?

Who knows what Will would have done if the political winds were blowing in that direction and he had a vote.

>Who voted with Bob to place the fire chief under the thumb odf the mayor? Will or Cathy?

Read above.

Who has next to no experience whatsoever as an Attorney, but flaunts that he has dedicated his career 'fighting the bad guys'?

good stuff when Poulin was on WSAR last nite,Hurricane disrespected him from the onset of the interview , classic spoiled brat footstomping.

Anonymous said...

I thought the Hurricane interview with Poulin went well, Poulin held his ground just like he did during their last interview and after the schooling and smackdown Hurricane got in the last interview I thought this time was a lot more civilized although of course Hurricane did try to come at him a little, but less than last time.

Listen, everybody knows what WSAR's agenda is with this kid, attack, attack, attack. I didn't hear any ads for Poulin on WSAR and he still finished as high as he did. WSAR better smarten up quick and find out if their hate filled attack Poulin agenda led to him not placing ads or if it was just because he didn't do a lot of fundraising.

If word gets out that you can win an election without advertising on WSAR then that station is going to get screwed by a lot of candidates and lose a lot of money. They need guys like Poulin to advertise a lot more than he obviously needs them if the election results are any indication.

I think Herren learned his lesson and hopefully the two of them can get along now. I listened to Poulin during that last Hurricane interview and last night and watched him on tv at a council meeting standing up to Joe Camara. This is one guy that is not going to be bullied or take any crap and the best part is when you stand up to bullies they usually back down but most people don't have enough guts to do it. Finally we will get someone on the city council with brains and the guts to fight for us. Now if we can get some more like that on the council we will be doing great.

reality check said...

I believe Poulin's success was due more to name recognition than platform. I voted for Eric, and believe he will do a great job, but if voters really listened to what other candidates had to say, people like Miozza would have done better, and some of the incumbents would be out.

It's apparent that shamrock and minions are upset that Flanagan beat their candidate. Get over it.

You ask about Will, but ignore the last two years of Cathy. Do you remember her vote to tax rain, her vote dismissing several thousand people who signed a petition against a contract chief. And who can forget her quote during a city council meeting when she said she left Fall River and moved to Westport because she needed a break.

shamrock said...

Wow reality check! I didn't support a candidate for mayor on my blog. Nor have I now.

Anonymous said...

I think attributing Poulin's success solely to name recognition is a slap in the face to the quality of his platforms both past and present and how active and engaged he has been since the last election, moreso than any other mayoral or council candidate.

I also voted for Mike Miozza and believe he has a quality platform but didn't see him out working as hard as Eric Poulin, Kris Bartley or Dave Dennis. It is one thing to have a great platform but if you aren't out there meeting people and talking to them about it then you aren't going to do well.

And I agree that Cathy has a lot of explaining to do. Bob didn't get his dirty deeds done alone, it was people like Cathy voting right along with him that helped to make it happen. Saying all of that Flanagan still worries me because his message a lot of the time is generic and not specific. Flanagan supporters better be careful too about bashing Poulin because I think he probably enjoyed a lot of support from ex Poulin supporters and the stigma of a young guy running for mayor is not what it was 2 years ago. Flanagan's people should be thanking Poulin for opening the door and paving the way and any votes he got based on people feeling guilty that they passed Poulin over a couple years ago but Flanagan isn't Poulin when it comes down to knowing issues to a great detail and with giving specifics and that will undoubtedly get pointed out if Flanagan's camp gets too cocky.

Both Flanagan and Viveiros need to play nice with all of the other losing mayoral candidates as well as the successful city council candidates. It takes a village to win a race.

Fall River shows improvment in MCAS

Anonymous said...

Vote, vote, vote!!! People need to learn HOW to vote. Don't mark 9 candidates just because you can! Just mark the top 2 or 3 choices, let's get these incumbents OUT. It starts with GETTING people out to vote (what a crappy showing of voters and we still won), and then teaching them HOW to vote. Follow the rule of 25. Tell 25 people how to vote and watch it spread.

Anonymous said...

Now we need to take back the city council! VOTE NEW! Don't Vote Incumbent!

Anonymous said...

Eric Poulin - Finished 4th - 4,394
Dave Dennis - Finished 9th - 3,003
Kris Bartley - Finished 11th- 2,698
Mike Miozza - Finished 12th - 2,696

Bob Boutin (2,558), Michael Canuel (2,554), John Brandt (2,385), and Joe Sousa (1,952) are good candidates too but the 4 newcomers listed above have the best shot at potentially unseating some of the incumbents. We need to throw our support behind these 4 individuals and the candidates that are further down on the list of 18 should also look at how realistic it is for them to win and consider throwing their supporters behind these people.

Once you fall below the number 11 or 12 slot it is very difficult if not next to impossible to crack the top 9. Some people have too many votes to make up and if they really care about change should consider helping the other newcomers who finished a little bit higher. They can move their change agenda forward by helping others with the same agenda.

If people don't join up and help each other then Lund, Camara, Casey, Pereira and Bigelow will win. No one should want to see that happen!

Anonymous said...

We need to vote for Poulin, Dennis, Miozza, Bartley, Boutin and Canuel so that the incumbents lose

Both anons 13:55 and 14:00 make excellent points (well, they make the same point). I just hope people (and those candidates) pay attention.

reality check said...

It's not an attack on Poulin but the reality of Fall River politics. Some voters do take the time to listen to what the candidates have to say, but far too many do not, it is name recognition. If the majority of voters actually listened to what those running had to say and what they have done, please tell me what they could have possibly heard or seen from a the current slate of incumbents that warrants a vote.

Anonymous said...

Okay so how do we get some more name recognition for new councilors like Miozza, Bartley, Dennis, Poulin, Canuel, Boutin, Brandt and others?

If Joe Camara, Linda Pereira, Mike Lund, Pat Casey and Brian Bigelow all get back on this City Council then I am going to sell all of my property in Fall River.

I am not crazy about Leo Pelletier, Brad Kilby or Ray Mitchell either and won't be voting for them because I don't want to take votes away from the newcomers but I think they are a hell of a lot better than Camara, Pereira, Lund, Casey and Bigelow or the braindead five as I call them.

If we were to get 6 newcomers along with Leo, Brad and Ray I could live with that. That's not too bad a city council.

Anonymous said...

Instead of voting for 5 or 6 newcomers what about 9?

Newcomer list:
1. Eric Poulin
2. Dave Dennis
3. Kris Bartley
4. Mike Miozza
5. Bob Boutin
6. Mike Canuel
7. Brian Dias
8. John Brandt
9. Joe Sousa

The only newcomer that I left out was Don Berube and that's because Bob Correia endorsed him and told his supporters to vote for him in addition to all of the council incumbents but Leo Pelletier. That seemed like a good reason to leave him off the list.

Bob Correia's 6 endorsements were:
1. Joe Camara
2. Linda Pereira
3. Mike Lund
4. Brian Bigelow
5. Pat Casey
6. Don Berube

Let's pick 6 or all 9 from the newcomer list and leave Bob Correia's 6 picks in the dark.

I do think that Leo Pelletier, Brad Kilby and Ray Mitchell are less awful than the 6 above but they are going to get a lot of votes anyway, all of the new people need our votes more especially Poulin and Dennis who cracked the top 9. The only way they are going to stay there is with our votes. You can bet that Joe Camara and people like that are pissed at finishing at the bottom of the 9 when they usually finish at the top and will be trying to turn out his troops to vote. The only way these terrible incumbents win again is if we the people let them.

Anonymous said...

All these comments are very insightful.

It is very unlikely that we will get rid of all 6 incumbent City Councilors.

Finishing 1st, 5th, and 6th ... Pelletier, Bigelow, and Pereira should be safe.

Finishing 7th, 8th, and 10th ... Casey, Camara, and Lund are very vulnerable.

Candidates Dennis, Bartley, and Miozza are in striking distance of winning!

So a newcomer list mentioned above and the strategy has to be simple enough as voting for challengers while denying incumbents, especially Casey, Camara and Lund.

Anonymous said...

Poulin and Dennis obviously had more support so perhaps they can convince supporters to also vote for Miozza and Bartley? Everyone needs to stick together, the plunking strategy is going to be selfish and ineffective if the goal is to knock out more than 1 incumbent.

The 9 newcomers need to unite and you can't bash all incumbents or former councilors either because you will need their help. If Leo, Ray and Kilby aren't so bad then don't necessarily be going out and telling people not to vote for them but that doesn't mean you have to vote for them either unless you want to pick 1, 2 or 3 of them plus 8, 7 or 6 from the newcomer list.

Trying to get out 5 or 6 incumbents is awful hard, people may need to look at Pereira, Bigelow, Lund, Casey and Camara and see which ones they can tolerate.

I am not so sure that Lund and Camara are vulnerable and Bigelow isn't just by where they finished in the pre-lim. People need to look at where they finished in the pre-lim in 2007 and where they finished in the 2007 finals. I seem to recall Bigelow finishing around the same spot in this pre-lim as he did in the last but he fell to 10 in the last final election.

It's going to be interesting to see but people definitely need to focus on voting newcomers and starting a campaign to pick off their most hated incumbent or incumbents. These blogs and comments do have power, people read them. The anyone but Bob campaign worked now we need to look at anyone but Joe Camara or something like that. Anyone but Lund. You get the idea.

Anonymous said...

And as far as being safe, everyone better work their ass off to win and the only one that is ever safe is Leo and maybe the top 3 spots are safe and right now that's Leo, Brad and Ray. Everything else is subject to change.

Anonymous said...

What could possibly be more awful than Leo Pelletier on the City Council?

Jason said...

We need to start working together. I like the idea of voting for 9, and voting for 9 fresh faces on the council.

Anonymous said...

At least Leo Pelletier didn't rubberstamp every single one of Bob's Correia's ridiculous proposals.

I agree that Leo is not the brightest bulb but he was smart enough not to be led around by the nose by Bob Correia.

What could be more awful than Leo on the Council? Let's see, that's an easy question, more awful than Leo on the Council would be Mike Lund or Joe Camara or Linda Pereira or Pat Casey or Brian Bigelow.

Smarten up people. We need to focus on Correia's boys and girls. Without them he wouldn't have gotten his way all the time and sunk this city into a hole.

People aren't making the connection that Correia didn't do it all by himself so these blogs and comments need to spell it out for them. Let the revolution begin!

Anonymous said...

Along with some fresh faces we deserve talk show hosts like Ric that are informed and ethical. Out with the dated, Faw Riva way of thought and in with coherent choices that promote the future of our city. The candidates do not have to subject themselves to WSAR anymore. If our station wants to stay relevant they should think about the image they are putting out there. Garbage in, garbage out!

Anonymous said...

WSAR had better stay unbiased now that Correia is out of the picture. When they let their bias show too clearly it is going to drive away candidates and others from advertising there or wanting to be on their station.

Bob Karam needs to hire more professionals and chill out and let them do their thing instead of interefering constantly which everyone knows has been going on for years. Maybe that is why they can never keep any decent people at that place for any length of time. I do like Happy Hec but the few people that have been there for years let's be honest probably can't get jobs elsewhere. If they could they wouldn't be there working under the condition of being told what to do and say but if that crap starts to go away maybe they can start to have a professional station.

I agree that Ric Oliveria did a great job with the election coverage and Hurricane not so much. Ric can lend a lot of credibility to WSAR, they need more like him but for that to happen the ownership is going to have to suck it up and decide do they want to use the station to beat up the politicians that don't agree with them or do they want it to be a professional radio station that can actually earn some real money?

5. Bob Boutin

If people want to throw Leo Pelletier or Brad Kilby or Ray Mitchell somewhere in there as replacements for some of the newcomers I guess I'm okay with that as long as it doesn't hurt the newcomers who look like they might have a chance like Poulin, Dennis, Miozza and Bartley but we realy should be giving all newcomers a chance.

Whatever happens do not give a single vote to Joe Camara, Linda Pereira, Mike Lund, Pat Casey or Brian Bigelow. All these people have done for 2 years is to rubberstamp Bob Correia's agenda which has put the city into the toilet. Bob is gone and now they have got to go!

Bob Correia didn't do it alone. People need to remember that. Did you hear that firefighters, cops, dpw, city workers and everyone else? Bob didn't do it alone! Don't vote for the five that helped him ruin our city: Joe Camara, Pat Casey, Linda Pereira, Brian Bigelow, Mike Lund. No votes for any of them!

Anonymous said...

Want to know more about the Fab Five?

Feel free to copy and paste and pass it on to friends, relatives and everyone under the sun.

Joe "Yes Man" Camara
Schedules meetings on Friday afternoons when the public can't attend and then shuts down public input for those that do attend. Anything to push through his master Bob Correia's agenda.

Pat "Two Facey" Casey
Tells the firefighters she will be with them on the Fire Chief Issue and then votes against them.

Mike "One and Done" Lund
Why is this guy on the Council again? Oh yeah, to move forward his own personal agenda for his businesses Borden Light Marina and the Tipsy Seagull. What exactly has he done in 2 years besides vote 100% with Bob Correia and make awkward speeches using football references and comparing the city to the Patriots? Hey Mike, the voters are about to sack you. Like that football reference?

Linda "Dice" Pereira
Likes to make racist jokes, lie to her employers and then lie to the media and try to get them to lie for her. Specializes in campaign finance violations and then blows them off as no big deal. Even her own brother won't vote for her.

Brian "Drummer Boy" Bigelow
Charms the pants off the blue- haired crowd by banging away on his drums and singing. Meanwhile there isn't much going on upstairs. Claims to be a whiz with numbers but demonstrated he wasn't at Mayor Correia's first neighborhood forum. Hasn't done anything in 2 years on the City Council except vote 100% with Mayor Correia. Only reason he got on the Council was Tom Kozak's resignation. His successes on the School Committee included signing off on Wayne Rego's illegal vacations at taxpayer expense.

Saw THIS in a Sterile Snooze story about commuter rail.

"While many of the key elements of the deal were resolved in 2008, the long-standing debate on liability remained unresolved until this final agreement. As part of the agreement, CSX will contribute $500,000 to help defray cost of the liability insurance policy the MBTA carries for the entire commuter system. And in the event that an accident occurs involving a freight train and CSX is clearly at fault because of willful misconduct, CSX will be responsible to pay the deductible on the policy up to $7.5 million per accident."

So CSX will pay $500,000? Out of what? What is the TOTAL? Sterile Snooze reporter is an idiot. I no longer subscribe to this rag AND I pulled my ads. I read it on line for laughs.

I have heard the following. The big deal that Flanagan has made is with Bob Correia. Bob has offered to endorse CAV. This of course will ruin CAV's chances.

Then Flanagan will have to appoint Bob Correia to serve as state liason to Beacon Hill. His duties will include getting a bag of groceries on a daily basis from the state house. (He said he brought home the groceries)

Flanagan also made a deal with CAV's husband...he will provide inside info andf after the election he will be made fire and police chief at the same time.

As the rumors come in I will keep you informed.

He has stated this to me on many occasions and I do not blame him. Go for it Ray. As for Tony, he will make more money by using Will by just supporting him, but he will leave him quick if he does not get what he wants. Tell me I am wrong!!

Anonymous said...

Stay away from the hangers on. Thus far Will is not following this advice. Jerry Donavan is also trying to find his candidate $$$$$$$$$$$.

Anonymous said...

Why would Tony Cordeiro want the job of City Administrator? So he can lose money? That's one of the most ridiculous rumors I have heard yet. The current Veteran's Agent though is horrible, just about anyone including Ray Hague would be a huge improvement. The vets hate Manny the current vets' agent and he does an awful job. Correia appointed a real hack here just like the grabass Community Development Director that he appointed but bringing back political hack Steve Long isn't the answer either. He got his job politically and lost it the same way. Boo hoo.

Bob Correia is out which is great news. The next step is getting out his rubberstamps on the Council and School Committee. Difficult to do with virtually no one running in the School Committee race but there are a number of people running for City Council and some of them are even quality candidates. I know, insert audible gasp here. Will the people of Fall River actually vote in qualified candidates? What would happen if we had City Councilors that asked intelligent questions? What if the outside world stopped laughing at us because of our electing people like Bob Correia over and over again not to mention Joe Camara, Pat Casey, Linda Pereira, Brian Bigelow and Mike Lund?

steve long got canned because he bad mouthed mayor correia, and that is inside info folks....

Anonymous said...

No, No, No, Long got canned from CD for the right reasons. Correia did the right thing. Long was strong arming contractors in order to line his friends pockets. Bottom Line. Larry Couto...Tony Cordeiro...may I say more. Dion has been running that office and should continue!!!

Anonymous said...

You may say many things about Correia. One thing he DID NOT DO is fire people who bad mouth him. Give me a break. Long was the only guy fired by Correia. Long had it coming. The reason he got that well paying job was because Tony called in a favor to Lamber. CD has a lot of $$$$$. Perfect for Tony.

Anonymous said...

Correction...Long got fired and Glisson got fired. Both actions by Correia that I agree with.

Anonymous said...

I personally know a contractor that was told by Long that if Couto was not hired for the plumbing work...that this contractor would never get another job by CD. Long is a crook.

Anonymous said...

I don't hear about Community Development falling apart, guess whoever is running the show now must be doing a good job. Long got the job on a favor and lost it when he fell out of favor. I agree with saying boo hoo. Not going to cry over someone losing their job who wasn't doing a good job anyway. Getting rid of him and Glisson were probably the only 2 things that Bob Correia did right.

Anonymous said...

Thank you. Correia was the victim of himself first and second a real real real bad economy. Oh third, the unions; who refuse to realize that they are in the job of public service...not self service. It is a sad commentary on our community. I will close by saying that no one is going to convince me that Correia is not a good human being.

Anonymous said...

More 9c cuts in 2010. More hard times and more layoffs. Please people vote for experience and vote for CAV. She has a tough job ahead of her. I respect Will, but, not as a Mayor at 28 yrs.

I was at the book store today. I read an interesting line. It said, "if you can read this, you should thank your teacher, if you cannot read this, you should thank you teacher's union.

Since we are kind of talking about CD Rec, whoever is in charge of the facility maintenance is doing a terrible job, and for quite some time. Currently there is an old nasty couch piled with trash and surrounded by trash, outside of the cd rec building, blocking a good chunk of the sidewalk. It has been there for one week. There is no tag on it from DPW indicating it is for pickup so I am guessing it will be sitting there for quite some time.

The building grounds are habitually nasty. It is great that they plant sparse marigolds out front but it doesn't mask the fact that I often can't walk up the sidewalks around the building because of the mounds of trash they leave out (not in barrels I might add). It is gross!

Anonymous said...

Shamrock, you are totally missing the point. CD is big $$ and Long...Cordeiro and Company are waiting to jump at it. Tony has raised 18K this week for Will. It is not due to the fact the he supports him as a CHANGER!!!!

shamrock said...

I don't think I am "totally missing the point" by raising another point. CD Rec is a dump.

I am, however, increasingly concerned with the amount of money that get channeled through Community Development. That might be an interesting expose'.

Also, I will find out when the next campaign reports are due. I will try my best to post them.

I am sure there are better things you could be spending your time doing like maybe doing some research on the 2 idiots running for mayor! Which one is more likely to run this city into the ground the fastest? Or maybe which one will promise the most throughout the rest of their campaign and not follow thru on any of it! Dont you think that is a little more important!! Is it any of your business what goes on in their or anyones relationship for that matter. Absolutely not!! But just for the sake of shutting you up! Mike didnt get dogged on facebook or dumped...Mike and Kristyn are together and are the happiest ever!

If people have a question or a concern, maybe they should confront Mike or Kristyn rather then make their own assumptions on these blogs. People quote with no intentions and that is what I think was done here. People need to stop being crazy about other peoples lives and worry about their own. Enough saig, leave em' alone!

Hi, my name is Eric Poulin, Candidate for Fall River City Council. I received a phone call today from a supporter alerting me to a number of comments that were being made about me on a few blogs related to Fall River. Let me take a moment to address some past and present rumors that have been and that are being aggressively marketed.

I am employed. I haven’t lived with my parents since July 2004. I am not the Father of anyone’s child. I am not Lefty or Shamrock. In general, they have both been mostly positive about my candidacy for office but you would have to ask they why. I write letters to the editor when I have something to say and I sign my name to them. I can understand why not everyone is willing to do that because if people don’t like what you have to say they might start marketing rumors that you are unemployed, live with your parents and father children throughout the city. I am tough though. I can take the scrutiny. I did not drop out of the Mayor’s race. I am not dropping out of the City Council race. I apologize if that bothers anyone.

I do have “an agenda.” It is a reform agenda. I have clearly articulated my position on a number of issues since 2007 and will continue to do so. If people are afraid that I will try to follow through with my reforms if I get elected then you are correct to be afraid because I will.

I am willing to meet with anyone face-to-face to answer any questions or to address any additional rumors, just go to www.hopeforfallriver.net and provide your name and number in the Citizen Input section and we can set up a meeting. That would be the best way to contact me since I don't anticipate responding to any additional false rumors through this blog.

Thank you. –Eric Poulin

you people on here are all jerkoffs. it makes me sick to read all these biased opinions of mike and anyone who has anything to do with him. mike is a good guy that has done a lot for many people. if you havent been one of the people he has helped them im sorry you have the wrong idea of the man. what he does in his personal life is not something that should be put on a blog. especially as dumb as this one.

also you people have the audacity to criticize someone who has given 30 years to the city of fall river as he goes out the door. its all fair game with the first amendment but have some respect for someone who has put their body of work on the line for the citizens of fall river for as long as bob corriea has. maybe he wasnt the right guy for the job, but he had a ton of issues stacked against him as soon as he stepped in the door.

we will see how good life is when we elect a new mayor who is going to face the same issues if not worse. this mess isnt going to be cleaned up anytime soon, and someone who sided with bob (cav) on many issues and some baby faced bozo (flanagan)arent going to all of a sudden eliminate these problems. get off the ignorance and look at the facts. cities like fall river are all facing the same problem and not me the mayor or you are going to be able to solve them. wake up and smell the coffee fall river!

p/s: how long, or should i say how many more laid off police or firemen, 9c cuts, budget shortfalls is it going to take for you people to start wanting to get rid of this mayor?

Anonymous said...

Listen the word is out about how sick, sad and pathetic the Hurricane is. People are getting tired of getting phone calls before the show and during the breaks asking them to call in and even to call in and pretend to argue with him.

People are getting sick of seeing comments here written over and over in the same poor style, the style of a kid that was passed through Durfee because of his basketball abilities and not his academic abilities.

You think posting comments here is somehow going to keep your name out there and keep you popular and draw a bigger audience to your feeble radio show?

No one cares who you are dating, and it's interesting that you hated Bob Correia in 2007 when you were a Brad Kilby man and then once WSAR starts signing your paychecks you do a total 360 and you kiss his ass to the point where you are now dating his family. Great, good for you, no one cares. Move on and stop posting here unless you are going to sign in under the name Hurricane and contribute something that is actually relevant to the topic of the blog.

You crave attention so much it is really quite sad, the sign of someone that needs to spend some time on a couch with a good doc working out how he became so screwed up.

Anonymous said...

No one is going to fix the city in the next 2 years. Due to the current economic climate and also the way bob handled the city for the past 2 years!!

I will take either candidate over Bob. The next mayor is just going to put a band-aid on the problem until it can be fixed. Stop the bleeding.

In the meantime, I want the person in office who will do the least amount of damage this time around.

I cannot beleive the post about me and/or my family on this blog. I am proud of my freinds, I picked them wisely, and my family. Tony Cordiero and Larry Couto are both my close friends and are very successful busineessmen. Both choose to live in this city when they could easily live elsewhere. They have invested thier time, money and energy right here in this city and for that thet are subject to ridicule. They are successful inspite of thier political involvement not because of it. No one speaks of thier charitable contributions or other good deeds.

This is all nonsense.

I am proud of my accomplishments at Community Development and will discuss this with anyone who wants to know the truth. It is a matter of public record.

To say I strong armed any contractor is just a bold face lie. To call me a crook is just plain defamation, and slander. It just did not ever happen.

I have been a city resident for most of my life. I choose to live in this city and I feel a moral and civic responsibilty to be involved in the political process. My success has come from hardwork, perserverance, and a never give up attitude. To attribute that to anything else is just fooling yourself.

It seems people would like to think that success comes from hanging out with politicians, well your wrong. Politicians want to be with successful people it is the nature of the beast. You got it backwards. But I guess on this blog that is par for the course.

Stephen R. Long
Private and Proud
Citizen of Fall River, MA

Anonymous said...

Dear Mr. Long,

Are you getting your job back if Mr. Flanagan is elected Mayor? Could you tell us if a deal has already been cut?

Also, don't you think Mike Dion is doing a great job running Community Development? Didn't he do a great job running it while you were there too? If he did a good job of running the place before Bob Correia gave you the boot and if he is still doing a good job after you've left then why shouldn't he keep the job? Would you decline the offer and consent to staying a private and proud citizen even if Mr. Flanagan becomes Mayor and offers you your old job back?

Anonymous said...

I have supported Mr. Flannagan since his announcement I have not been promised any job. I have not had any discussions about any positions at City Hall. Mike Dion is a very capable individual and I take offense when you say he ran it while I was there. We instituted many changes at CDA including procedures to perpetuate the mission of CDA in case of the elimination of any individual through death or termination. Those policies and procedures seem to have worked well. Much work was done and seems under appreciated but, again that is the nature of public service, a thankless job which many think is easy. It is not!

I have signed my name here and find it strange you won't sign yours. To discuss all that was accomplished during my tenure at CDA in this forum is not something I care to do nor do I wish to perpetuate this blog by responding to unfounded accusations and annonymous opinions, and conspiracy theorist.

I will be more than happy to discuss any details of CDA, my relationships with my freinds political and otherwise, and any topic publiclly face to face with any reponsible individual anytime.

160 calls in an hour works out to about 2.66 calls per minute or roughly a little more than 20 seconds per call. And that's on a full 60 minutes, not including station breaks and commercials. How substantial can a 20 second phone call be? Maybe 160 calls to the station were made, but NO WAY they all made it on air. And if that's the case, how many of those calls were made by the same people over and over, like "Grandma" and "Little General" and whatever other Howard Stern wannabe "Wack Pack" nutjobs?

Mike Herren is a dick bag and so is the rest of his whole effed up family. Sometimes I wish Al, Mike and Little Chrissy would all drive off a cliff in the same car, like the O'Doyles in Billy Madison. O'Doyle rules, indeed!
