The Taunton Gazette has the same editor as the Herald News who has been preventing comments from being posted on articles in the paper since a new mayoral candidate announced.

After going back and forth yesterday with the HN editor as to why I could not post (she indicated that I had been banned), I created another user name through another site. In her last e-mail to me, she indicated that she knew I had done that. So, I now know that the HN is checking IP addresses. Do they have the right to do that? I have since blocked my IP address. And so from now on, I will come to the blogs to have my voice heard.
If the family was subsidized there, it is strictly against HUD guildelines that a HA allow a landlord to collect Section 8 subsidy payments for a family that is related to him/her, unless there are extenuating circumstances. I don't believe having a married man's child is one of them.
My question about the HN checking IP addresses is that how do they know the posts are from the same person? If your husband, son, sister, mother, father, boyfriend, girlfriend, daughter, neighbor, uses your computer to post, then by their standards, they are you.
Until and unless the technology exists on the consumer level to determine exactly who is posting from a certain computer, the HN should give each user the benefit of the doubt. Until and unless they break the rules they have set up, they should allow new usernames from the same computer.
This might be better addressed in a letter to the editor. Or better yet, a letter to your local congressman. Or even better yet, the ACLU.
I am not a lawyer but quite proficient on computer technology. I cannot see how the HN can be certain of why they assert.
There's a simple solution. Don't post comments on the Herald News website. The editors there read through the comments because they they have no staff and the staff that they do have most are lazy so they are looking for news tips and story ideas in the comments section instead of doing their jobs. The days of investigative journalism are dead. The Herald editors used to come to this site for story ideas too like on Miller Green. Of course that's way back when this site was a lot more active.
I think they are "editing" the comments on their stories because they are usually one-sided. They have specifically removed comments that (are within the pool rules) they don't like about the current administration, take the casino fiasco for instance most of the information on both sides of that issue you have to get from the southcoasttoday, cape cod times or the middleboro blogs...that is not objective journalism.
The HN and Startton have NEVER been objective...she's just one of the many in Fall River that cater to the ruling cabal connected to the Redevelopment Authority and FROED. The powerful attorney's and assorted money men and women, bankers and influence peddlers that have destroyed Fall River for generations have a serious stake in proping up this sham figure of a mayor. He was nothing before becoming mayor, he's nothing now, and frankly, he's never going to be anything, let alone Senator Sylvanagan...HAHAHA...now THAT's FUNNY
Steven Torres is such a waste of money and space on the sixth floor. He's also still doing jobs on the side in addition to working for the city. Didn't he claim a long time ago that his pay increase was justified because he had to give up his private practice? Yet as of October was still working for the Town of Wareham.
Another new hire at city hall. This time, it's Terry Esposito, girlfriend of Mario Lucciola. You will find his name in the over $500donation to Flanny's campaign. This woman is retired from the court house. More double-dipping??
