Outgoing Mayor Correia Creates/Gives Jobs to Friends

So far........

Kathy Edwards $55,000
Newly combined position of contract compliance officer/executive secretary in the Community Development Agency
Coelho said one reason the combined job wasn’t posted was because “an internal candidate needed a job.”

Ines Leite $55,914 - $65,147
Assistant City Clerk

Jeff Santos $85,000
CDA Executive Director
Told mayoral staffers were being given municipal jobs in a city with soaring unemployment, Santos said, “It happens all the time."

I am going to be incredibly disappointed if these positions aren't seriously scrutinized by Mayor Flanagan.

I agree with your post but unfortunately it's not different then what previous mayors have done except maybe they haven't been as painfully obvious as the Bobfather.

In fairness to the Bobfather and it pains me to talk of being fair to Bob but I think it's the job of the Herald News if they are going to report on this, and they should, to also get a list of staff from previous mayors and indicate where they ended up and whether or not there was some help from previous mayors to land in those spots.

It might be hard to tell whether or not people got help since it is so far in the past and people could deny getting assistance but going from the mayor's office to another cushy government job with a high salary and little to no qualifications is a good sign the fix was in!

Not one job he has given out has impacted the city budget..look it up!! Another job was a result of combining two jobs..how come no attention to the job Flannagan gave out to one of his political cronies from TAUNTON!!!

Did Bob and Joan Menard pay back their raises yet like they "Promised" to do by the end of the year? We're already in December and the clock is ticking. Bloody crooks....

I agree with Shamrock these positions should be scrutinized by the incoming mayor.

Do NOT like his keeping lake Champlain on...not at all...we still haven't heard anything about the budget...I'd like to know if it's in balance...Mayor Flanagan doesn't have to wait to get rid of Bob's appointee's../.He could simply re-authorize a proposed FY 10 Budget , stop funding the positions Bob approved and create new job titles and pay rates for the people he wants to hire...and it's perfectly legal...he doesn't have to wait for FY 11!

Anon10:08 So Bob hires a CDA director who makes more then a 22 year dept head. These people were fired on Bobs first day as mayor! Do you really think they are in Bobs pocket? they don't have a union backing them up. I know Terry personally. He has been there since Carlton v. and he got his job on brains not who he knows. He never waited in line like Ray Hague for a payback job!

So Flanagan could fire santos on day one?

Anon 11:19 No I think all dept. heads should have a contract like the fire and police chief do. all jobs should have some protection if they are not protected by any union.
