Bob's track record for attending debates indicates that he will not be attending any debate this time. His slick new campaign consultant/handler said last week that Correia will attend Thursday nights debate at BCC. However, the Herald News is now reporting that, "Correia has also said he may be unable to attend a second forum scheduled for this Thursday." ...shocker
Just further evidence that Bob Correia doesn't care about the democratic process.
Finally, I question the decision making skills of anyone supporting Bob Correia. Next time they are up for election, I will remember that elected officials such at District Attorney Sam Sutter and Register of Deeds Bernard McDonald actively supported Bob Correia.

Really disappointed in Sutter for that one! Will really make me rethink my vote next time he is up as well. It is not just a difference in opinion on one topic, it shows a totally lack of judgment.

The Herald News rightfully slammed Bob Correia for skipping the debate:

What was interesting too was this comment at the end of that story:
Anyone else remember this one? Deja vu all over again...
Poulin calls for debate
Jul 21, 2007
Mayoral candidate Eric Poulin challenged his fellow candidates to a series of mayoral debates Friday...
Bob Correia said, There are different ways to carry our message to the voters. Its not (Poulins) responsibility to tell me how to do it.

Correia tried to duck debates in 2007 too and the newspaper still endorsed him. Great to see that everyone that endorsed him or voted for him in 2007 may finally be waking up. We hope anyway.
actively supporting includes hosting a coffee hour.
and sutter had the judgement to put the sign on his property line so it would look like it was on his neighbors lawn.
Anon 17:41 if you read the article that you posted a link to and the quotes that you took totally out of context you would know that what Mr. Poulin was being critical of was Mr. Correia's lack of having a web site up, not his failure to debate. Nice try .

#6 Can't get his lexis out of the driveway because of the "fiscal blizzard" weather conditions
If I were a city council candidate, I'd start to distance myself from the mayor asap. Associating with him is a kiss goodbye.
ha ha I love the blizzard comment shamrock.
11. the only reason the fall river school dept was not taken over by the state is because of me.

Kudos! No more Sam Sutter or B.J. McDonald. They've obviously fallen under Bob's spell. Political suicide for both! Bob probably threatened McDonald with putting someone in to run against him. The usual Bob move. Doesn't anyone remember what happened to Bob supporters Linda Pereira and John O'Neil? Slaughtered!
Excuse # 7 - I cannot attend because the people in the audience are either mentally or physically disabled!
hmm, job openings I wonder who will get the job, a coffee hosts relative???

Director of athletics???
I can't attend I am busy finishing the project I have been working on since carlton viveiros was mayor.
Anon 18:40 you should read the article and your slant on Fall River is out of context because you think Bob is doing a good job. Nice try covering for him. In that article Correia also showed how ignorant he was about technology and how unimportant he thought it was with one of his other quotes and yes he was called out by another candidate to debate and his response was clear that it wasn't important to him. He is a technically inept debate skipper. Vote for him again you loser!
Is the Athletic Director a Full Time position? Does anyone know the salary? Is it higher than the Register of Deeds?
no but a relative has applied for it.
I can't attend because I am too busy inventing the internet and the FREE initiative.
I can't attend because I am too busy finding out about this city pier being contaminated, I just found out about it when I took office.

http://www.wickedlocal.com/fall-river/homepage/x565954775/Chapdelaine-resigns-as-elections-director
Mayor Robert Correia immediately accepted one resignation and made a temporary directorship appointment in the elections division after a mayoral candidate said Tuesday he was violating state law.
“I’ve accepted the resignation of Adam Chapdelaine and, using the emergency appointment (powers), made Elizabeth Camara the interim director” of the elections office, Correia said shortly after being told by The Herald News about the apparent conflict.
Chapdelaine, appointed city administrator Nov. 7, has continued in the dual role directing elections until resigning the second post.
“The appointment is in direct and total conflict with state law, which prohibits an individual acting in the capacity of an elections commissioner from holding any other elected or appointed office in the same city,” charged lawyer Will Flanagan.
He called it “a blatant statutory violation.”
Correia keeping Chapdelaine in both roles, Flangan said, “undermines the public trust in the municipal election process. It is an apparent conflict for the mayor’s top political aide to fairly and impartially administer the very election process that will determine the next mayor.”
An assistant city solicitor in Taunton, Flanagan, 28, announced his candidacy for mayor last month, charging Correia with “making empty promises.”
He said Correia should have been aware of the law because it was amended in 1990 during his 30-year career as a state representative.
When told of Correia’s quick actions, Flanagan said, “That’s the correct and just thing to do.”
He plans to take out nomination papers for mayor on the first day they are available, which could be April 28 if the City Council approves the Board of Elections Commissioners’ timetable.
At first, Correia said late Tuesday he was making the changes to avoid a misperception of Chapdelaine’s dual role, while Corporation Counsel Arthur D. Frank Jr. studied the state law.
“It should not have been done. I should have been aware of it,” Correia said within minutes of Frank being faxed Flanagan’s statements.
“Had I been aware of it, I would have taken the action I did today,” he said.
I can't attend because I need to change my diaper. What kind of diaper do I wear? .... depends...
