While you are at it you should perhaps think of selling some real estate T Shirts on here.
You know
"all is anonymously lost"

see http://thedeepriver.blogspot.com/

The way the market is crashing, the number of foreclosures in 2008 were half of the market locally... yikes!

just anonymous said...

These look great Shamrock!

Hey, can we run Anonymous for mayor? He/she's already got fabulous name recognition!

Anonymous said...

Definitely, let's circulate the nomination papers!!

Remember... all campaign contributions must be in cash in order for the donor to remain anonymous.

If you plan to drive around the city with the new "Anybody But Bob" bumper sticker, maybe add another sticker that says, "This car protected by hidden surveillance cameras"!

Wake up bloggers.The HURRICANE is the king of all media in the southcoast.Did anyone listen to his shows this week,the # of calls were amazing and so were the amount of laughs.If anybody disputes that than they clearly are not being objective.Its time to recognize!!

Talking about a father and his daughter..thats disgusting!!I hope hurricane finds out.If he does god help you!!

Although I disagree with anonymous 22:25's assertion that this blog is pathetic (unless by pathetic, you mean awesome), I do agree that the "shit talking" was over the top. Calling someone a crackhead or questioning their parenting really adds nothing to the discourse.

That being said.....buy a t-shirt.

Anonymous said...

Geez Herren, how bad was the show this week if you're slobbering for attention--AGAIN--from the "whackjob bloggas" you so despise?

Really, it's even sadder that you're begging at View from Battleship Cove, too, in what is supposed to be a discussion about the homeless in FR. Pretty desperate, dontcha think?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WSAR has a great afternoon drive show..i never thought i would be listening to talk radio but im hooked every day myself and my friends get together and listen to the hurricane,He gets great guests and his topics are interesting sometimes they are serious sometimes not.His show about marriage and divorce was hysterical and the phone calls were outrageous.Anybody who can make me think and make me laugh is doing something right.Is it possible to go by the radio station and meet him?Does anybody know if you can do that?Where is the station?fall river?

and yet another anonymous post on radio free

Talk all you want about the hurricane but there is no disputing the popularity of his show ..80+phone calls in the last hour.The show topics are hysterical and the relationship he has with his listeners is exceptional.Eat your heart out haters the Hurricane is red hot!!Denying the Hurricane his do and putting your head in the sand trying to champion Krod as a better talk show host is foolish.I will take the Hurricane 24-7.

80+ phone calls in the last hour, so you are either at the radio station or you are sitting on the toilet at home counting the # of calls per hour?

January 9, 2009 7:53 PM

Anonymous said...
Or you're his drug dealer and you charge him for cocaine based on how many calls he takes.

Anonymous said...
WSAR doesn't even have 80 listeners. It smells like someone is full of sh*t.

Anonymous said...

and then keri set the record straight:

Its not possible to take 80 calls per hour. Even if you were capable of generating that many.

Ryan,

maybe you should have used your name in the first place to prove your point.

Very good, then, Ryan Chabot. Now let’s take this a step further.

Think about this:
Mayor Correia aside, what would you do if you knew that in taking a public stand against a person of power you actually risked losing something of value…perhaps a job, a client, or even the physical safety of yourself or a family member? Because you are a person of good conscience you are faced with a true moral dilemma; your sense of justice compels you to speak out, yet your sense of self-preservation tells you not to.

(Do you understand why the government initiated protections for “whistleblowers”?)

This is exactly the situation faced by Shamrock and other members of the online community in Fall River. And so, they have found a solution. Through the protection of anonymity, Shamrock has been able to effect change in the city, real change, as exemplified by the Cpl. Miller issue which was first exposed on this blog.

These outspoken people have taken on a very powerful political machine without loss of life, limb or livelihood—so far. And in doing so, they have begun to affect the way business is done at City Hall. Do you think Bob Correia will dare to rename ANYTHING in this city again without due process?

Why do you think Correia gets so defensive when talking about the bloggers and why did his thug at WSAR threaten a “crime spree” against these activists? It’s because Mayor Bob cannot control them and, before now, has underestimated their power to make an impact on our community.

So, Ryan, when you are willing to place your own neck in the guillotine by publicly challenging this vengeful dictator—using your real name—then you will have earned the right to take issue with “anonymous.”

Anonymous said...

THAT was pathetic.People who lie and talk about people without using there name are cowards and have no credibility.The truth ratio on these sites are pathetic

Anonymous said...

So if I give my name and make up a lie then it is true?? Nice angle
for the new year , keep trying to get the anonymous to reveal themselves.

Man accused of scamming immigrant

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I encourage any member of the immigrant community looking for advise or help with immigration related issues to take advantage of the Mayors Immigration and Naturalization Office located at city hall, Correia said in a statement.

The two-person office is funded through Community Development Agency block federal grants, providing free and confidential services, said Ines Leite, Correias spokeswoman, who supervises the office.

She said the immigration office has been in place for more than 20 years, and employees speak Portuguese, some Spanish and Khmer, a Cambodian dialect.

The only reason the mayor is commenting is we dont want other people found in situations like this one, Leite said.

`````````````````````````````````
Why is the city even getting involved in a criminal case again?? Nothing ever happens when the mayor contacts the District Attorney anyway. How will they get the witnesses to come forward the Mayor doesn;t like anonymous bloggers , is he going to let the immigrants stay anonymous?
Anonymous said...
Maybe we should change it from anonymous to confidential services provided by bloggers !!
Condfidentially yours,
Annie N Moniz
To Annie Chabot: What are you referring to as being a "lie"?
I was making the point that we don't need to use our real names and anon above was insinuating those that are anonymous are cowards and lying
and those that sign their name
are telling the truth?
Please also not anon did not sign their name.
Confidentially Yours,
Anonymous said...
Thank you, Annie. If I understand you correctly, you are saying that people tell lies even when they are using their real names. I agree. But what I hope you are NOT saying is that Shamrock tells lies on this blog. Anyone who thinks so should review the postings Shamrock has made and they will see that when presented as factual, they are thoroughly backed up by research.
Certainly, there are times when Shamrock also gives his opinion on certain matters, but never presents his opinion as fact, though he may cite factual evidence to support his opinion. (As a personal aside, what adds to the lure of this blog for me is that Shamrock also displays a very unique sense of humor which makes this blog enjoyable as well as potent!)
Annie, I am sure you are aware of the difference between a “blogger” and a “commenter” on a blog. You and I are commenters. Shamrock is a blogger. This is a distinction many people seem not to be aware of. The confusion is understandable because the two terms get used incorrectly so often by so many people.
Therefore, to other commenters who think they are bloggers or who think their fellow commenters are bloggers, please try to make the distinction. When writing, are you referring to the topic or author of the original blog post (i.e., the blogger) or are you referring to the words of a person who simply “commented” about that post? The distinction is important and using it will make your comments more effective.
Blogs have become powerful stimuli for discussion and blog commenters can be equally powerful.
LMAO..oh yeah, loss of life, limb and livelihood is REAL possible. Delusions of grandeur.
Anonymous said...
Delusions of grandeur? Then explain why Mike Herren threatened twice, on the air, to go on a crime spree against bloggers, the likes of which had never been seen in Fall River?
I'll say it again...why don't you put your name out there on an issue that opposes this political regime and then see if you don't start looking over your shoulder on occassion.
Anonymous said...
Considering his violent and drug addicted history....anon is your best bet.
Anonymous said...
So you get your tires slashed?
What's Correia gonna do? Give you a parking ticket?
Anonymous said...
If it was only a parking ticket I would gladly pay it. Try losing your job then house.
Try losing your job then house.
If you have a big, important truth to tell or a stance to take, then you shouldn't care what it costs you. I don't but some of the people on this board take very, very strong stances but are apparently unwilling to suffer for their beliefs
Fear and Loathing in Fall River said...
Why should people suffer the attacks of vindictive politicians like Bob Correia? Because they believe that we should have open and accountable government, they should be subjected to petty retaliation from a dictatorial regime?
It is clear how this city currently handles outsiders. Why would or should anyone subject themselves to that? Being right and believing in that, doesn't mean you should lose your right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Three great men who had everything to lose, and the freedom of man to gain, hid their identity when publishing the Federalist Papers. Should they have done this openly? Sacrificed their security and their property, because not all agree with the right to man?
Your arguments are specious, and not well thought out. Perhaps you should go somewhere else and rant. It appears that you are trying your best, which isn't very good at all, to out the bloggers and commenters online. You should stick to what you do best, sucking up to those in power.
Anonymous said...
I believe the city provides confidential immigration services- why is that, what would portugeese immigrants be afraid of, why don't they come forward with their names and suffer the possible consequences.
The law also provides anononmity for harrassment victims. why is that, should they come forward with their name and suffer the possible consequences?
Anonymous said...
Oh, the self importance! I remind you the Declaration of Indepence was a signed document
Anonymous said...
So eloquent, F&L. What the heck’s so noble about suffering for your beliefs when there’s no need to? Personally, I rather enjoy having my head attached to my neck. Moreover, it’s completely counterproductive, since revealing the bloggers’ identities would likely put an end to their ability to be effective due to retaliation from Gollum-the-Dark-Lord-wanna-be and his groveling minions. (Hmm, I think that has the makings of a big musical number!)
Like the authors of the Federalist Papers, by remaining anonymous, the bloggers have found a way to continue shining a light into the dark corners of City Hall— without being silenced!
Had the FP authors signed their names to their first publication, they would probably have been tried for treason and we’d be calling their work The Federalist Paper—singular, curtsying to HRH Elizabeth and having tea and scones daily at 4, and, oh yeah, suffering through some other really bad stuff that our forefathers were trying to save us from.
Oh, and Anon, yes indeed the Declaration of Independence was a signed document, and then, as you may recall, there was a really big war after that.
Ah yes. Brave bloggers. I get it,. If you releasaed your names, there'd be a big war and you'd be beheaded. Get real. How can you be so scared of one old political hack in charge of one crumbling city? Scared? Of Bob Correia? No one, anywhere, has ever been scared of Bob Correia. He's toothless. Building Bob Correia up as some evil wizard just makes bloggers feel like they are something other than the graffitti artists they really are.
I think you should use your real name if you are not afraid ...go ahead what is the worst that can happen??
c'mon you go first and I will follow, c'mon give us your name and address so we can verify it and than I will give you mine. c'mon brave one, c'mon .
Anonymous said...
Ditto to the above!
Sorry, O Anonymous One who decries the use of anonymous. You can't have it both ways. You are the one who made the comparison to the Declaration of Independence. I don't think anyone here is comparing their writing to documents of that caliber, but the principles of their use are the same.
And, yes, Bob is a small time hack politician. But, shhh, let's keep that little secret to ourselves because he thinks he is King of the World. And in his miniscule mind, Fall River is The World and he is a Very Important World Leader. But, sadly, though we can poke fun at his grotesquely enlarged ego, in his position as mayor, he really does have the power to do harm without the conscience to control it.
Please write again when you have done what you continually goad the bloggers into doing—publicly defying him in your own name—and let us know how that works out for you.
