Fall River Community recently did a post about campaign contributions Carole Fiola received from E.A. Fish of Peabody Properties. Peabody recently bid on 64 Durfee Street. This got me wondering if the Fish contributions are just a coincidence or if they are part of a pattern. (*Bob Correia also received contributions from Fish).
Ken Fiola is the husband of Carole and treasurer of her campaign. In his role as Executive Vice President of FROED, is charged with making recommendations to RA on awarding contracts, choosing between submitted proposals on projects, and helping to award tax increment financing (TIF) agreements.
Hartwell Commons, developed by Frank and Nicola Marchione of Catahoula Corp., was recently awarded a TIF agreement at the request of FROED/Fiola and Mayor Robert Correia. Correia accepted numerous campaign contributions from the Marchiones as did Ken Fiola as Treasurer of his wife, Carole Fiola’s, campaign.

Keeping going shamrock my post on peabody was only the beginning.
Charlotte
I started to put the clarkin pieces together but was a bit reprimanded for to lenthy a post,
maybe you can pick up where I left off.
Charlotte, your input is welcomed and enjoyed by many here. The issue was more with you throwing the pieces out in spurts. If you put them together and put together a post, I am sure that one of the big 3 bloggers would pick it up as a guest post. Also, if you want to just do research, you could send it to one of the bloggers and give them the info to blog about.
I've missed you in the past few days. I just would rather see you make the point rather than crying out in the wilderness. This EA Fish / Peabody thing WAS all you. But I never got the point about what you were trying to say until FRC posted it with commentary.
Keep up the work, but please, tell us what you think about it. I think we would have missed out on some serious wrong-doing if it weren't for you.
Just to clarify:
I meant no disrespect by 'crying out in the wilderness.' It is a biblical quote. St. John the Baptist was a voice crying out in the wilderness, who was foreshadowing Jesus' entrance on the scene.
It was meant as a compliment.
My response over at FRC was not intended to be a reprimand.
It was similar to the point of view expressed by Fear and Loathing. We welcome and enjoy the information that you have put together exposing all of the contributions made by EA Fish. I even wrote that the post was inspired by your research.
Thanks Big three and Fear and Loathing, I was just trying to
stay within the guidelines.
I was actually out of town and I'm just catching up on all the news-WOW it was an eventful week so far.
How do you feel about Bob going around the city supporting Peabody, all the time having taken money from E. A. Fish in the past several cycles?
While we're talking real estate. Why is it that Arthur Winn, the same Arthur Winn that stands accused (yet somehow not charged) of making a $10,000 bribe to a public official was able to secure an approval to convert the Quequechan mills building to subsidized apartments? And how come it is not a conflict of interest when the attorney he used, Jay Clarkin, also does work for the city? How are these two not being held accountable? Where is the outrage?
Ummm... Maybe because he made a $10,000 bribe?
check out clarkins other clients that he is brining before the zoning board one accused of swindling an old woman. Clarkin
is getting a lot of work in front of the board all of a sudden and I'll be his realtor girlfriend is too. hmmm, pay me extra and I will get it passed??
You not only have to worry about unfair tax breaks to campaign contributors, but you also have to keep an eye on Fiola, as he has a history of re-writting TIF agreements. He's done it in in the past, without the city councils knowledge or approval.
Reality Check, can you back that statement up with fact? Dates, times, newspaper articles?
Question: The conversion of the mills on Quequechan Street was denied by the Zoning Board a few years back. Why is it suddenly acceptable now?
The city of Fall River has such wonderful and knowledgeable bloggers. Why is it that NONE of them will step up to the plate and run against these "CROOKS"
Who are the big three bloggers?
Anon 14:18 - maybe we are :)
