Budget Cut Recommendation

Paul Walnuts made a budget cut recommendation in the Herald News comments that got me laughing:

"I just saved the city $50 large."

scamrock for dog catcher

Anonymous said...

Looks like Collen is out of a job as chief umbrella holder. Or maybe not. Correia still needs someone to drive him and to fetch and taste test his coffee.

there are plenty of dogs on the
6th floor we need a dog catcher.

ALL FALL RIVER BLOGGERS NEED TO EITHER RUN FOR OFFICE AND GET RID OF THE PEOPLE THAT THEY ARE WHINING ABOUT OR JUST SHUT UP

What are my other options?

Anonymous said...

Oh my, someone is very upset that the back door politics is actually being exposed.

Mayor Bob might be hated but you have to give people a good alternative and it's hard to tell if Flanagan, Camara or Hague could beat him. If you look at the last election in 2007, Alves and Whitty say they are retired now, Sullivan lost by a lot to Correia so Kilby and Poulin might be options but both have already said they aren't running and Kilby's few comments about Correia even after his first 100 days have been relatively positive plus Correia would try to hang the football field issue around his neck like he tried to do to him in 2007. Poulin said he wasn't running but has been involved with calling out Bib Bob on the Fire Chief and the naming of the schools and issues like that. He would be the best option to beat the King but he isn't running I guess so it's a dead issue. If anyone thinks Flanagan or Camara or Hague or someone else can do it, please convince me, it's fine for me to say anyone but Bob but in reality it can't be just anyone.

Anyone notice Adam Chapdelaine's letter to the Herald the other day, saying how wonderful the SMILES program is?
It's a good idea to suck up to the SMILES program that way.
Guess why?
Here's your hint. Why are Herald News editorials going light on Correia recently?

Anonymous said...

I don't get the SMILES connection there are a lot of people writing those letters.

FLANAGAN'S CAMPAIGN DOES APPEAR TO BE TAKING OFF HOWEVER HE HAS A LONG ROAD AHEAD IF HE WANTS TO UNSEAT A 30 YEAR ENTRENCHED POLITICIAN

Anonymous said...

No, WE have a long road ahead...

Anonymous said...

I agree Flanagan has alot of work ahead of him, but boss clown is losing steam FAST. The karams are feeling the strain and appear to be cracking. We need to band together to take back OUR city. See you at Waterstreet March 5th.

Yay! Bring your passion, enthusiasm, and sleeves rolled up, to wrestle these monkeys down.

eric poulin sighting at flanagans meeting....good news

Anonymous said...

maybe he can share his comminuty development experience with the group :)

Anonymous said...

Yeah, that Poulin endorsement really helped Dave Sullivan didn't it?

Anonymous said...

If he endorses him from the get-go in this climate with everyone tired of the shenanagans it will !!!

Anonymous said...

Sullivan wasn't going anywhere, he will never win a race for Mayor of Fall River and yes the Poulin endorsement probably helped him or he would've lost by more. Poulin and Sullivan were entirely different in the debates and anyone looking to be impressed by someone in a debate was undoubtedly disappointed by Sullivan and the way Correia mopped the floor with him so yeah every little bit helped Sullivan. In fact, Correia could use Poulin's experience right about now, hell he seems to have had a hell of a lot more than Chapdelaine who appears to be a whiz with the budget if you call trying to force people to take a 10% pay cut or accept 175 layoffs to be "creative" and "innovative" management of the budget.

Anonymous said...

"comminuty?" Or maybe community perhaps? An English teacher should share their experience with you, it might help you with the whole spelling thing that you seem not to be able to grasp...
:)

The times they are a changin la la la.........

Anonymous said...

My thought is that sometimes Representative Sullivan's answers may not have "sounded" as good as Bobo's but it was because they were truthful. Watch the debate videos on fallrivermass.tv and see what Bob has actually done that he said he was going to do. Sullivan told the truth and Bob lied as needed in all the debates.

Anonymous said...

and now he is trying to back track becuase the heat is on and use the other candidates ideas.

Anonymous said...

Will Flanagan is a joke. What has he done in the city of Fall River in the past several months, much less years? What are his qualifications for Mayor?

Do tell...

Anonymous said...

Obviously the qualifications are minimal. boss clown got in

Anonymous said...

At least people had heard of Boss Clown..

Anonymous said...

or he can share how he tried to shake down current administration for pay he left on table when former mayor forced him to resign

Anonymous said...

I don't get the SMILES connection there are a lot of people writing those letters.

Herald News Editor Lisa Strattan lives with Jim Mathis, who runs SMILES.
Smiles is a program in the Fall Rive schools that takes corporate money to run...like Amari Walker's program

Anonymous said...

now i know why it was in paper 30 days in a row. what journalistic integrity. Dr. D is rolling in grave

Anonymous said...

the dynamic duo of lambert/correia couldn't force poulin to resign although they sure tried but is there any way we can force mayuh bob to resign or how about a recall? his campaign promises have been nothing more than fictitious stories and he has shaken down the taxpayers for every penny he could get so that he could give fat raises to arthur frank and nice new high-paying positions with bennies to jay clarkin. stormwater fees anyone?

Anonymous said...

The new Mrs. Ed Lambert(Ava Assad) runs the Fall River program.

Anonymous said...

Is it a volunteer program or paid??

Anonymous said...

SMILES is a volunteer program. There are paid staff that organize and run it.

Ava Assad is no longer involved with SMILES. She took a job somewhere else.

Anonymous said...

Good for her.

Anonymous said...

I like Ava and Ed. I wish they were still at city hall. At least he treated people with respect.

Anonymous said...

I liked Ed Lambert up until I started seeing all his old campaign people clinging desperately to Bob Correia's coattails. It looks like someone sold their soul for a job at UMass. Lambert got the job alright and Bob got the Lambert machine but then the back-biting started. Anyway, I hear they have kissed and made up since then, after all Lambert started out strong but by the end he was part of the problem. Bob Correia though is definitely an even bigger problem. Time to rid the city of the 'ol boys and gals club. Bob Correia and his cronies and Joan Menard and her cronies who supported and still support Bob. Dump the 70 year old political hack crew and their followers and the city can maybe finally start off fresh.

Anonymous said...

Assad took a job at Roger Williams. She got hooked up with her SMILES job and then hooked up with an even better one. Wanna know how she ended up at Roger Williams? Just ask Bob Correia and/or his big financial backer Mr. Mateus of PrimaCare who is pretty influential with the board at Roger Williams... Looks like the Assad-Lamberts or Lambert-Assads owe a lot to big 'ol Bob. Sure Bob will pee on your legacy a bit and you get to protest a little but in the end the good 'ol boys always kiss and make up with one another.

You guys will find out pretty soon the city employees are being asked to take a 24% pay cut not 10%. So if your chief Sousa you would be giving up 1,400 a month!!!! I don't think it will pass. I do think the mayor will tell Dept. heads they have to take it or leave. They are not union and last year he made them all resign, so i don't think forcing them to take a pay cut or leave is out of his thinking. Anyone agree with me?

shamrock said...

I don't know much about the 24% being claimed but I was OUTRAGED at Correia today when Ric Oliviera asked him about next years budget. Bob basically said he isn't looking to the future (understatement of the century) or to the past and is focusing only on the present. You can hear the interview podcast at www.wsar.com

Sorry, I don't listen to that station on the radio or the online podcasts on their website. I stopped a while ago. Listening to Barry and/or that other guy, no thanks! Dumb radio is an understatement.
